Gandhinagar is the capital city of Gujarat. It ranks amongst the major cities of Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot. The city is located approximately 23 kilometers north of Ahmedabad. It lies on the western bank of River Sabarmati.

The climate here is normally hot and dry except in the monsoon season. From the months of March to June, the weather remains slightly hot with maximum temperature measured in the range of 36 - 42 degree Celsius

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is located at Ahmedabad and it is the main airport of the city of Gandhinagar also. The airport lies at a distance of 18 kilometers from the city of Gandhinagar and it provides connectivity with both national and international flights. The people, who plan to travel by plane to Gandhinagar, should note that the International Terminus of the airport does not operate twenty-four by seven.

There are domestic flights available at this airport to several metropolitan cities and other important cities of India like Indore, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kolkata and Goa. Recently flights to the cities of Surat and Kundla have been launched. International flights from this airport are available to all across the globe like New York and New Jersey through Mumbai. There is even no-stop connectivity available for Kuwait, Dubai, Muscat, Sharjah, Singapore and Doha.

Gandhinagar is popular for its tourist attractions. Being the capital city, it attracts a large number of tourists every year. The tourist places include Hanuman Temple, Swaminarayan Temple, Akshardham Temple, Adalaj Step Well, Science City, Sabarmati Ashram, various multiplexes, Children’s Park, Sarita Udyan, Deer Park and Craftsmen Village.
